The Middle Urals Development Corporation

Client

The Middle Urals Development Corporation (MUDC) is an institute of infrastructural development under the Government of the Sverdlovsk region. The corporation's activities include business support in the field of investment, public-private partnerships and preservation of cultural heritage objects.

The client wanted a ready-made website in order to:

  • present a public-private partnership model for conservation and use of cultural heritage objects;
  • get new applications for their services.

About the project

The site is actually a showcase of the property units that MUDC (the Middle Urals Development Corporation) offers to take under its guardianship as part of a public-private partnership model. That is why we faced a challenging task of providing the users with access to information and its quick and easy search.

Course of work

We started the project with the preparation of wireframes to initially define the data structure on the object cards and the other pages. Wireframes help the client understand what the structure and the content of the future site will look like.

Wireframes

After a brief approval process for the Wireframes, rearranging the blocks and choosing the proportions of the objects, we began preparing the concepts.

The first concepts looked completely different from what we ended up with. We used illustrations of hands holding buildings as the main elements, and we chose pastel green as the main colour.

First concepts

Unfortunately, or fortunately :-) the first concepts were given a cold reception, and we started working on another option.

The second time we completely abandoned illustrations in favor of beautiful photos of the objects themselves. We also made full use of the corporate identity elements and the logo.

The new version turned out to be brighter and more businesslike and almost immediately appealed to the client.

After accepting the concept and developing the desktop version, we started designing the mobile version.

The result

We prepared the design of the new website and also developed the backend for one of the lines of work of the Corporation.

It took us about 8 months to complete all the work starting from April, 2020 up to January, 2021.
We had an opportunity to work with an interesting client and came up with a lot of original solutions. For example, interesting menu animations and a cool grid for different objects.

The new site made it possible to present the activities aimed to protect cultural heritage on the Web in a brighter and clearer way. It is quite possible that our project will help some old buildings acquire new patrons and restorers.
